Work pays for all the fun stuff

Most of us hate work, yet it takes up the majority of our lives. I've had a cursory look at data to support this statement via the web, but the bottom line is most of us spend more time at work than anywhere else.

I suppose I'm going to turn this upside down when I say I like work, to some degree love it. Not just hard graft so much, but the challenges that owning a business brings, and the sense of achievement when it's all going well. Just don't ask me on a bad day when none of it seems worthwhile and the burden of responsibility rests a little too heavily.

As well as the consultancy I provide within my own industry (when representing Enviromec). I am also a voluntary business mentor for the Prince's Trust. I also help out a few local clients and small businesses too and will always consider any new proposals.

Hopefully these clients have been happy with the service I provide and the business of mentoring is something I am slowly growing.

RC - jewellery business, based in the Peak District

"Peter Morley has been my business mentor for the last year and been a great help throughout my first year of business. He has gone out of his way to help me with areas of business which I struggled with initially, marketing and social media especially.

"He is very easy to work with, taking note of issues and always giving an honest opinion. He has provided me with sound advice regarding areas I've been unsure of, given me some great business tips and a lot of support."

MH - specialist clothing business based in Chesterfield

"Once going through panel with the Princes Trust, I was wary that the amount of help I would receive would decrease from what I had been given beforehand.

"Peter was assigned to me as a mentor and I couldn't have asked for someone more helpful and supportive throughout the first two years of my business. Peter made it very clear that I could get in touch any time and that he was only an email, text or phone call away. He helped me massively with every issue that arose, from small problems to big, such as struggling with my tax and people stealing items from the shop. I am so thankful for all his help and although the two years are up, he has made a very clear point that he is always there for any help I need in the future.

"It was very settling to have someone mentor me who was not only helpful with business related issues, but also someone who I could chat with about day to day business and personal life. Undoubtedly, these past two years would not have ran half as smoothly without The Princes Trust and Peter's help."

EM - self employed beauty treatment business, based in the Peak District

"Peter Morley assisted me in setting up my business and has been a great help to me.

"Peter offered me a lot of sound business advice which has been invaluable. He also helped me with my choice of career and negotiations with my landlord during the time I was just starting out.

"Peter always listens and considers all the options, and he sees things from a different angle. His advice has always been practical and he has a no nonsense approach. I'm really grateful for his input and support."

Katie Stewart - professional singer, based in Chesterfield

"My name is Katie Stewart and I am a fully self-employed successful singer, with thanks to Peter Morley.

"Peter helped me gain confidence in starting to work for myself, and pursue what I love doing most with as much support as anyone can give you! Giving me advice on business plans, managing money and even completing my own accounts and tax returns!

"I gained support and amazing ideas from Peter with the set up of multiple social media platforms that has been one of the most useful sources of gaining new contacts, fans and bookings! I would definitely recommend Peter's services."
